2022 Open Competition Results
Our short story open competition for 2022 closed as usual on the 1st March and again, the standard of entries was excellent.
Our BWC judges had a tough job as always but managed to prepare a shortlist of fifteen stories this year to put forward to the final judge who had this to say in summary:
"I have had a difficult time trying to choose the winner(s) this year and all of the stories each have had reasons why they should be chosen.
I have enjoyed each of the stories sent to me, having had to have countless read - throughs. I marvel at the ingenuity of the minds of each author. They all deserve an accolade."
Wendy Nottingham
There can only be three winners though and we're delighted to announce the prizes this year go to:
1st Place - Forest Bathing by Dianne Bown-Wilson
2nd Place - Open Evening by Julia Clayton
3rd Place - My Nan by Les Clarke
Narrowly missing out on one of the top three spots but worthy of special mention from the judge were:
Gratitude by Bryan Thomas
Anti-Social by James Wood
Everyone But Me by Vanessa Bullock
Thank you again to everyone who entered this year and congratulations to the winners
